Megan Evans Profile
I create vibrantly colorful works on canvas that evoke emotion and inspire joy through acrylic mediums. I relish adding my own unique touch to abstract cityscapes, figurative abstracts, animals, flowers and landscapes. I draw inspiration from nature, particularly where I live in Sooke, British Columbia. My father was a gardener, so growing up I was surrounded by trees and flowers which fascinated me with their colors and textures. By age ten, I developed chronic back pain and at the seventeen, I was diagnosed with the spinal disease spondylolisthesis. At eighteen I had spinal surgery. The pain and trauma from that inspired me to use the creation of art as a tool for healing.
I believe I create joyful pieces to bring happiness to others, because I know what it feels like to be alone and in pain. As a quiet person, I feel that painting has always been a safe space to allow me to express my feelings and be as loud as I want on canvas. To me, life is fluid—ever changing. I’m not afraid to experiment or learn new techniques that enhance my work and expand my subject matter. What makes my work unique is my intention to influence healing and happiness in other people.
Megan is also the co-author of No Quarter: Dominium, No Quarter: Wenches and Search for the Holy Grail. If you'd like to explore her book series visit:
