Protector
My piece Protector was influenced by my encounter with a wolf while staying in East Sooke. It was mid-summer, and I rose very early around five in the morning to photograph birds. The last thing I expected to see was a Vancouver Island Wolf traverse a hill in front of me. When it reached the top of the rocks it vanished into the brush and a few minutes later I was treated to a wolf howl. This piece first appeared in the Talisman Show at the Metchosin Art Pod.
As the wolf represents my talisman, the wolf himself is wearing his talisman of a moon and butterfly. Both symbols have spiritual meaning, especially the butterfly that represents the fleeting nature of life.
Presented on 16x16 inch cradled wood panel made in Canada.
